Whether we travel by plane or car

They help us make our next wise move

Let’s get into the map reading groove!

On top you see a title line

Here the map’s name we can find

Next we have a legend or key

To tell us what the symbols mean

Of course we need the place to show

Exactly where we need to go

Or where we are now in the world

Or where to find other boys and girls

Somewhere we must see a scale

To give the map some more detail

And make sure distances aren’t wrong

Since Boston’s not really one inch long

North, East, South, West, you can find those

Directions on the compass rose

Maps can show us many places
